Where do I start

before I can remember

you were there for all my first’s

The first time hearing your voice

to the beat of your heart

was where I once resided

through your unconditional love

you brought me into the world

by the grace of God

all my senses you awakened

in my fragile state

you are my strength

during my nightmares

you are the sunshine

eliminating the shadows

in my time of hunger

you would soothe me

with the grandest of meals

because they were made by you

you’re like no other

distinct from all

because you are my mother

near or far

I’m where ever you are

your loving son

wrote in words

all the treasures in the world

do not compare to your brilliance

nor outweigh you in my scale
