Dear Jane,
You have invigorated me with your beauty and your poetic language. Your artful words and your strong identity! So beautiful and intense. It’s lovely, lively and just brilliant.
Yes, my black raven, my mad raven, my mad wife, she pecked at me.
She beat me and hurt me for many years.
She has been warned and told many times that I will leave her, and I have told her I don’t want to stay, and that I will leave.
But as of now, it’s a secret.
You know. My family knows.
And that’s it.
I trust you, and I believe in your friendship deeply.
Love, Edward

Lovely work!
Since I have not yet read the book, please tell me. Does Edward experience his wife as treating him thus because it is in fact how terribly she treats him, or is it because he is miserable & longs to be with Jane rather than where he is no matter how his wife treats or feels about him?
