Dear Governor

From a Californian, That’s Me

Dear Governor Newsom,

Please hear my plea,

From a low-income citizen, that's me,

I write to you with a heavy heart,

Hoping this letter reaches you, in part.

The pandemic has taken its toll,

On people like me, it's taken our rolls,

But your leadership has been a light,

In these dark times, through day and night.

But there are challenges we face,

That need attention, they can't be misplaced,

Access to healthcare, a basic need,

For those of us who can't afford the fees.

Housing prices are out of reach,

For low-income families, it's just too steep,

We need policies that make it affordable,

For all Californians, a home that's comfortable.

Education for our children, a right,

But low-income neighborhoods, out of sight,

Children there have fewer resources,

We need equality, no matter what the sources.

Homelessness, a complex issue,

We need solutions, that are not tissue,

Affordable housing, mental health care,

Job training, all need reform and repair.

Governor Newsom, listen to my plea,

From a low-income citizen, that's me.

We need your leadership and dedication,

To make California a better leader for the nation.

Thank you for reading my letter,

I hope it's made your decision, better,

To work for the people, all of us,

Especially those, so low, in trust.

Sincerely,

A low-income Californian, that’s me.

Dealing with mental health problems has been hard. I've lived my whole life believing that no one understood me. I realized, my mind is not for others to understand; but for my edification of self awareness. So, I write to understand me.
