Dear Future Me: These Words May You Never Forget

Keep these words close, no matter what, I got you.

Self portrait, February 2023.

Dear Future Me,

We're almost 24, and time has flown,

Since you wrote a letter, for your own.

You advised to keep speaking up,

And we've done just that, with courage and pluck.

A stronger, resilient fighter, you've become,

Proud of what you've achieved, where you've come from.

Through doubts and challenges, you've stood tall,

Believing in yourself, giving it your all.

Not everyone believed, as you expected,

But trust your gut, it's never neglected.

A cynic at times, yet pleasantly surprised,

By those who've stayed, through all the highs.

They've been there in the lows, the boring in-between,

When life happens, and things aren't as keen.

Cherish the chosen ones who've stayed by your side,

Through thick and thin, with unwavering pride.

Express yourself with consciousness and intent,

Authenticity, a guiding scent.

Live without worries, without regret,

Attracting those who enrich, never forget.

In moments of doubt, remember this truth,

You're capable, smart, and quite astute.

Surpassing even the wildest dreams,

Of your 17-year-old self, or so it seems.

You've got this, my dear, keep pushing through,

I'm here with you, no matter what we do.

Believe in yourself, as you always will,

For I am you, and I'm with you still.

Sincerely,

Your Present Self
