dear friend,

your eyes are dead

they're hollow and glassed over

and they seem to play pretend

like you're awake and full of life

but i see past your disguise

please don't you worry 'bout tomorrow

for the sun will bring you light.

dear friend,

i'm sorry you've been hurt

scars, marks, and bruises

not a voice to be heard

but i'll be here for you

when everyone else is gone

please don't you worry 'bout tomorrow

for you have a heart that is strong.

dear friend,

you're tied up

you have anchors for feet

i can try to release you

but please work with me

i believe in your strength

even when you don't

please don't you worry 'bout tomorrow

for tomorrow brings you hope.

sad poetry
