Dear Earth,

As I sit here in my little place,
I think of you and all your grace,
Your brilliant colors, your flowing streams,
The beauty you hold and your wondrous themes.

But as I think of you, I also mourn,
For all the ways that you've been worn,
By those who take but don't give back,
By those who don't consider what they lack.

I see the changes all around,
The warming air, the rising ground,
The melting ice, the dying trees,
I feel the sadness, the endless disease.

But I also feel a glimmer of light,
Of hope that we can make things right,
Of love that we can share with you,
To heal the damage that we do.

So here's a pledge, dear Earth, from me,
To lessen my footprint, to plant a tree,
To be a steward of your ways,
To honor you every single day.

Thank you for all that you provide,
For the wonder you share and the joy you provide,
May we honor you and keep you free,

Sincerely yours, humanity.
