Dear Breonna
A poetic tribute to Breonna Taylor

Dear Breonna,
Five years since you’ve been gone and a new day has yet to be dawned.
We’re still fighting for the justice of people of color.
In the midst of the war they now see us as brothers.
The way the world lost your life cut deep.
You shouldn’t have been gunned down while you rested in sleep.
You were a medical worker with many lives to save.
Before you had that chance you were put in a grave.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but your justice is getting served.
The men who unjustly took your life are getting what they deserve.
Though the injustices toward our people haven’t come to a cease.
I hope even the smallest amount of justice means you’re resting in peace.

~Dedicated to the memory of Breonna Taylor. May your justice be served.

This was an utterly tragic and criminal act the police did. She should have still been here today. I hope she gets the full justice she deserves. And also, it will never bring her back. I hope one day we can wrangle our police brutality and extrajudicial execution to its heels.
Beautiful and moving tribute. Let justice rain down.
👏👏I am clapping for her and your poem!! Great job! Tragic and so wrong, her death. (And so many others!)
