Dear body,

thank you.

For you patience,

while I attempted,

to shape and mould you,

too often with force,

into something other than,

the beautiful,

unique,

miraculous

combination of bones, blood, and tissue that you are.

For continuing,

to pump blood to the very tips of my smallest toes,

for breathing beautiful air into every corner of my lungs,

for allowing me to feel, see, and smell the glorious world around me.

Thankyou,

for continuing to love me,

even during the months I showed you,

not a drop of affection in return.

Thankyou,

for waiting,

as my heart and soul,

stretched and bent into place,

within your beautiful walls.

It is to you I owe everything,

for without you, I am nothing but a complex cloud of energy,

beautiful,

yet,

unable to hold my loved ones close,

to sing until my throat hurts,

to feel the sea on my skin,

to kiss,

to dance,

to move through and experience this life

thankyou.

For waiting,

with open arms,

to shower me with the love I've been searching for my entire life.

I know now it has been within me,

all along.
