Day Trip to Tobermory

A Summer Sonnet

By Christina BlanchettePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

The night before I prepare and pack

Our car, full of towels and toys and sunscreen.

Daybreak departure, though sleep we may lack,

Adventure awaits, escape from routine.

-

On to Tobermory, Canada's jewel,

Of hidden crystal cool waters bright.

My youngest alights on rocks by the pool

Splashing, his sisters dive deep without fright.

-

A day in the sun, picnic in the shade,

The trek worthwhile to bask in nature true.

Moments shared sipping sparkling lemonade,

Lamenting hours in the day seem too few.

-

The trip comes to an end, memories set

Of family and joy, summer's vignette.
