I have two daughters; both beautiful and smart
They make me laugh, make me cry; melt my heart
I gaze at them in wonder - how on earth did I get here?
How did I manage nappies, feeds, all the endless gear?
Prams, weaning, car seats, choosing their preschool
Sleepless nights, vomit; clothes covered in drool
The first day of school, tears spilling from my eyes
Saying "you will be fine sweetheart". I still hate goodbyes
And now, as they grow and start spreading their wings
I am terrified, and excited by what the future brings
Their path, unplanned, the ups and downs yet to come
I know one thing for sure, I'm so proud to be "mum".
