Would we have been friends, you and I?
If history was different would we see eye to eye?
Mum always said you were smart, fun, and witty
And that your piercing green eyes were so amazingly pretty.
When you left us life changed for all the wrong reasons
So much time has passed by, many hours days and seasons
When the day is quiet and distractions are few
I squeeze my eyes shut and try to remember you
What were you like, who were you really?
A part of my past that I still love so dearly.
I have daughters now, their eyes, also green
But not like yours; so shiny, vibrant and keen
Lets catch up and compare notes, me and you
When we next meet, and your eyes shine anew.
