I crafted my profile with care and grace,
Uploaded my picture, chose my best face.
Interests? Traveling and blogging, I shared,
Hoping to find someone with whom my heart paired.
"What am I seeking?" I pondered with thought,
Typed out my desires, the qualities sought.
Sexy, respectful, and handsome, I sought,
With hopes that my criteria would not be for naught.
Responses flooded in, likes by the score,
Messages aplenty, a virtual uproar.
Amidst the clamor, I sifted and weighed,
Searching for the one with whom love could be made.
Yet behind the screens, reality skewed,
Deception rampant, truth misconstrued.
In a sea of gods, I found myself lost,
Wondering if my standards came at too high a cost.
Faced with a choice, to lower the bar,
Or embrace singlehood, scars and all par.
Opting for self-love, I chose to stand tall,
Hoping to find a diamond among the thrall.
One profile caught my eye, seemingly real,
A photo taken on a fishing boat's keel.
We met for coffee, our first date a thrill,
But beneath the surface, doubts began to instill.
As dates ensued, a connection we found,
But doubts lingered, whispers of truth sound.
A surprise visit led to a startling sight,
Betrayal unveiled, love's hopeful flight.
In the end, I walked away, choosing to be free,
Preferring solitude to love's deceitful plea.
For in the realm of dating apps, where illusions reign,
I learned the hard truth, love's path is not always plain.
