Darkness

A poem

There’s a darkness

Deep inside me

One that I can't shake

An emptiness I can’t fill

A vast void

Without one thing

*

That one thing is you

You are the light

That chases the

Darkness away

That fills the void

That is left by the

Great emptiness

That I feel

*

When you come to me

You light up the dark

You fill my heart with

Such a sweet joy

When you hold me

In your arms

You fill the void

That is left by the

Empty feeling

For you and only you

Are my rock

Are my anchor

Are my other half

Come near, sit a spell, and listen to tales of old as I sit and rock by my fire. I'll serve you some cocoa and cookies as I tell you of the time long gone by when your Greats-greats once lived.

Awww, it's so wonderful that you have someone like that in your life! Loved your poem!

  • Now I know you're not talking about me, Mother, for I have never managed to shed light upon anything or within anyone. But I'm glad you have someone in your life that does.

  • Great poem! Both tenebrous and happpy! 😬
