Dare to Decide

A Sonnet

How warm and reassuring waiting is

Delay, deliberation, second thought

Supply a shield against that dreadful quiz

When the pressure to act cannot be fought

Sober circumspection is always wise

Rash haste has brought many a hero low

But for procrastination, there's no prize

Read the map carefully, but then, please go

Do not be paralyzed by fear and doubt

Nor should you hesitate to fools annoy

One can lose many rounds and win the bout

And what fun is a pristine, untouched toy?

Be wise and cautious, but once you decide

Upon a course, leap on your horse and ride!

Great use of the form! As someone who can be too patient and susceptible to analysis paralysis, I found this convicting

I've never thought of waiting as warm and reassuring until now. What an apt descriptor for so many different situations. Great sonnet!
