Daphne Blue

a poem

I hear him strumming along over the phone,

matching "Daphne Blue" on his guitar as it plays on my TV.

He finally figured out that last part of the chorus,

initially remembering the chords from years ago when it was still new to me.

I told someone once that if anyone learned this song for me, I would fall in love with them,

I tell him so casually, so unafraid of the openness with this man who always seems to understand.

So I should learn the rest of the song?

He can't see the smile on my face as I take my turn asking a question we both already know the answer to,

Do you want me to fall in love with you?

Beautiful poem. I can feel the romantic irony and wistfulness. Also, wasn’t familiar with the song so thank you for the link to a lovely video. 😎💕
