Dance With An Elephant

And other uncommon treats!

I'd love to dance with an elephant

Even if it made me sweat and pant

I'd love to dance with an elephant

To feel so big, so tall and elegant

*

I'd love to swim with a crocodile

We could go up the lane in style

I'd love to swim with a crocodile

To bomb, and butterfly for a while

*

I'd love to sing with a nightingale

Follow his lead with an exciting tale

I'd love to sing with a nightingale

To glissando notes on a sliding scale

*

I'd love to dig underground with a mole

Leaving my mark as I scurry down my hole

I'd love to dig underground with a mole

To hide underground, knowing my role

*

I'd love the fly high with an eagle

Look down on earth, feeling so regal

I'd love to fly high with an eagle

To soar as fast as a shot from a Deagle

*

I'd love to race fast with a cheetah

Feel the wind in my fur, tan rápida

I'd love to race fast with a cheetah

To dart across the savanna after impala

*

I'd love to climb trees with a raccoon

Feed and play under the light of the moon

I'd love to climb trees with a raccoon

To eat insects, play, sit and have a croon

*

I'd love to dance with an elephant

Even if it made me sweat and pant

I'd love to dance with an elephant

To feel so big, so tall and elegant

Thank you for taking the time to read my poem. This was just a bit of fun based on the first line. It then became a quirky little thing about the uncommon, unlikely things I'd love to do with certain animals. So I put it forward as an entry into the Uncommon Challenge.

If you enjoyed it, I would appreciate it if you click the heart, and left a comment or both. You can even subscribe.

A wonderful, original idea. It has me imagining the reaction each animal might have if you tried these things. A delightful read!

Made me smile. There feels like a children's picture book within these stanza. 🥰

Paul, I loved this, and you get bonus points for squeezing a wee bit of Spanish in there 😍 When I saw you rhyme cheetah with "tan rápida" I was like 😍😍 YES! I loved it!
