Growing up alone and in pain
being bullied at school and home from my dad
learning that you have to earn respect
feeling tired and sad for the daily tortures

smiling and dancing to music
learning to the beats to ease the hate
loving others, not hating others
not being the world that imprisons us
We Don't Need Permission to Dance
only you can free yourself
releasing the locks and singing out loud
becoming joyous, knowing that I am released
standing tall, earning black belts
winning my daily battles mentally
dancing to the joys of a life reborn . . .

I am a Salsa dance contest winner, voted number one by a Colombian audience.
My family danced to K-pop music because I am Part Korean.
Have music will dance and be liberated.
