Daddy Lost His Job

daddy lost his job

now he just slams the door

he hasn’t read me a book for so long

he doesn’t smile anymore

hurt is the yelling

daddy lost his job

him and mum don’t talk

they don’t take me to the park

or take the dog for a walk

hurt is the lonely nights

daddy lost his job

and now he sleeps all day

i'm not allowed to run around

i have to be quiet when i play

hurt is mummy crying

daddy lost his job

now he says we’re broke

just sits in his shed all night

on his xbox drinking smoke

hurt is daddy’s red eyes and face

sad poetrysocial commentary

I love any poems about childhood because i believe they help us heal, but this one especially struck a chord. I love the rythm!
