The restless moon rises

Before it is truly night

Eager to see what lingers

In the dimming light.

These creatures that roam

In the fields and the trees

Shine in the darkness

Making their way with ease.

An owl that hoots

A fox that slinks

A bat that flutters

A doe that drinks.

Stars poke through an inky curtain

The fog rolls over hills

Peepers sing a lovely chorus

While crickets perform their trills.

The moon basks in awe

How much beauty is missed

While the sun sleeps

So much wonder exists.
