Curanderismo

I watched a video of Curanderismo which is a Mexican form of healing and this song was inspired by a healing ritual from shock or trauma.

Song for Healing from Susto

You whom are in state of Susto, or emotional trauma and shock.

Your healer has come a motherly woman in Mexican colourful attire. You are wrapped in linen sheets heated by the sun.

And through the window the sun shines like warm honey on your body.

You can hear the sounds of a trio of ocarinas singing a calming song from outside.

She is asking you to breath deeply through your nose and release the air through your mouth

You are safe

By your head is a bunch of basil, elderberry and thyme, tied up with string. You can smell the sweetness and earthiness of the herbs.

The same herbs have been soaked in vodka 2 weeks earlier with different flower petals. Your healer rubs this earthy ointment into your legs, and onto your back, and back of your arms. She asks you to turn over and rubs the delicious scented concoction onto the length of your legs, your stomach, chest and front of your arms Then, she silently helps you return onto your back

You whom are in state of Susto, or emotional trauma and shock.

Your healer has come, a motherly woman in Mexican colourful attire. You are wrapped in linen sheets heated by the sun.

And through the window the sun shines like warm honey on your body.

You can hear the sounds of a trio of ocarinas singing a calming song from outside.

She is asking you to breath deeply through your nose, and release the air through your mouth

You are safe

She asks you to think of the cause of your trauma.

Then she slaps the herb bunch with little force across the back of your head and says,

“Shout out your name”

And you do

As you shout out your name you feel your Susto leaving you

You whom are in state of Susto, or emotional trauma and shock.

Your healer has come a motherly woman in Mexican colourful attire. You are wrapped in linen sheets heated by the sun.

And through the window the sun shines like warm honey on your body.

You can hear the sounds of a trio of ocarinas singing a calming song from outside.

She is asking you to breath deeply through your nose, and release the air through your mouth

You are safe

Again, she asks you to think of the cause of your trauma.

Then she slaps the herb bunch with little force across the back of your head and says,

“Shout out your name”

And you do

As you shout out your name you feel your Susto leaving you.
