Cry yourself a rainbow -
Where sun meets saddest pour.
Dance up a tornado,
A swirly, alarming roar.
*
Pound and jump an earthquake,
And shake for all you're worth.
Float upon a stream or cloud,
You're one with Mother Earth.
*
Go on and pout, or scream and shout
Just let your spirit fly.
Smile, sing. Try anything.
And finish with a sigh.
*
For if you hold it to yourself,
Like magma underground,
No telling when it will explode,
Nor shielding those around.
*
Now, do it over once again,
For showers reappear.
So, cry yourself a rainbow,
With a color for every tear.

Love it! Very clever - my fave part is the stanza beginning with “for if you…”
Such a freeing and liberating poem. I loved it so much!
This is such a beautiful, healing piece.
Lovely verse and powerfully gentle
Fantastic writing Julie! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
That is really nice and uplifting Julie!!! 🌈
There's something so freeing about this poem. I enjoyed it.
I love the rainbow imagery, but I find myself most connected to the line about "magma underground." Sometimes people who seem very patient are just trying to hold in what is likely to be a massive explosion of emotion, just like a volcano.
nice
Beautiful takeon the rainbow aspect
Your fourth stanza is soooo true. And crying is truly very therapeutic. Loved your poem!
