Crossroads
Poetry on the Crossroads of life
There are times in life when you’re not where you were, yet not where you’re supposed to be. You pause—your feet, breath, thoughts, and mostly, heart, hover. Crossroads comes from this place — the in-between—where decision whispers, and is difficult to hear. It is a poem about standing still, feeling the heaviness of the past lift—and the weight of what comes next.
Life is a crossroads.
==+==+==+====+==+==+====+==+==+====+==+==+====+==+==
Footsteps hover
Right--
Yearnings.
Left--
Life.
I stop.
My heartbeat--
Breath sudden.
The air tastes incomplete
My shadow stretches,
But does not rest.
==+==+==+====+==+==+====+==+==+====+==+==+====+==+==
My mind turns, over words
Half said--
Still unheard
My feet move forth
The mind
Pulls back.
The path chooses me.
==+==+==+====+==+==+====+==+==+====+==+==+====+==+==
My feet drawn
To a path
Unknown
More asks
Than answers
They hover still
My breath catches
Mid-step.

Nicely done Michelle! 🌸
Lovely poem, perfect for the challenge. Good luck!
You’ve captured the stillness and uncertainty of that space so beautifully.
Excellent take on the challenge.✅ I’m currently devoid of ideas.🥺
so true about crossroads! the path does choose us, doesn't it?
We often reach those times and have to work out which direction to take
