Crimson Water

Peace At Last

By Mercedes ChavezPublished about a year ago 1 min read

The cold porcelain kisses my flesh

Water starts to flow

Slowly engulfing my body

My eyes close

Focusing on the feel of the water

The sound of my breathing

The bittersweet taste of wine lingers on my lips

I count backward from one hundred

The closer I get to zero

The closer I get to being completely submerged

I feel no fear

I feel nothing

Finally... release

The water stops and I hear one last drop fall

My eyes slowly open

The crimson water covers me

Light breaks through

And I finally let go

The pain disappears

No more tears fall

Peace has finally found its way to me

And I allow myself to drift away
