I sit with the moon,
and shiver in the wind.
There's red on her fringes,
a veil over her face.
Luna? I ask.
Aren't you afraid?
Afraid of the darkness overtaking you?
The very darkness you are meant to hold at bay?
She smiles down at me, half in shadow, half in light.
I do not fear this night.
It was set for me at the dawn of time,
My dance ordained in heaven,
My path paved to dip into darkness.
I do not fear, for I know I will come back again.
She dims, red and silver in the sky.
The stars shine for her all the brighter.
Child of dust, are you afraid?
I pull my arms tighter
Yes.
I fear my eclipse will never end.
That I'll walk in darkness forever.
That I'll be lost to chaos and uncertainty.
Luna, I am afraid.
Be still.
This will not be forever,
In the end, it too shall pass,
and you will shine bright,
and remember the darkness as it is:
Set in its time, in its place.
You are not alone.
The chill is deep,
The night deeper still.
I do not fear the eclipse
whispered the moon,
But all the same,
Will you stay with me?
So I sit with the moon
I sit with the moon.

This was beautiful, I love how your stories shine with hope to spite the darkness. In the middle of the night it's easy to forget the light, but I love how this poem reminds you to take courage, dear heart, child of dust, for the night is not forever and the dawn is soon to come <3
I loved this, M.A. I loved the description of the moon at the start and then the voice you gave it. "child of dust" made it feel more mythical, timeless somehow. But ultimately I liked the solidarity between the two voices and the understanding to be there. Lovely and a great way to start my day.
