Creatures Of Love

Practically Human, But Better

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 11 months ago Updated 11 months ago 1 min read
Forever; Wynter And Mazy Mae

Please, love, take a moment

for the love you shared was great

The loss has been a torment

pain almost too much to take

Yes, PLEASE take time to grieve her passing

her absence will loom large

Her time went by in a flash

and she left a beautiful mark

Love like that comes so rarely

a love that honest and so pure

The pain comes so unfairly

for 11 years her heart was yours

So, don't let anyone shame you

or rush you along

For she was a blessing come true

real love in the form of a dog

Though she was much more than that

a creature too precious for words

If she could, she would shield and

take away all your hurt

For now she exists, deep inside you

you are eternally bound

An extension of you, love

once in a lifetime, profound

Well-wrought! I recall reading somewhere that some Romans had themselves buried with their dogs, and archeologists have found canine memorials as ornate and eloquent as any human's.

Lovely words Kelli, especially: "Love like that comes so rarely a love that honest and pure" they are very true. If it is of any help, I believe that grieving is the last gift a living creature can give. It is an opportunity to remember all the good things that they have given in their lives. It is a gift and should be embraced. Thinking of you, it is never easy. I wrote this story last year. It may help. I hope so. https://shopping-feedback.today/families/saying-goodbye-is-never-easy%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">

You are so right. My Pokey is my best friend who is a Beagle mix or a mutt. I have had a dog since I was 5 years old from a poodle to cock-a-poo and a beagle in between that we had to give away for she ate pillows, doors, her food and a lot of other stuff. Good job.

Pets are family. 💗 I am so, so sorry for your loss. This is a beautiful tribute.

  • The torment is great for ourselves when we bear it alone, yet greater still is the torment for the grief of others we cannot slake, no matter how we might long to atone.

So sad, but such a beautiful reminder of the love of a family member who happened to have four legs and fur <3

Oh I’m so sorry for your loss 😥 we are so blessed to be able to have our dogs for the time we do.

  • Your words are a gift, understanding, and full of the kind of grace that only comes from deep empathy. You have captured the weight of loss and the immeasurable beauty of love in a way that brings both comfort and tears.
