A poem

Life now has become more terrifying,

than any fictional monsters on my tv screen.

I can pause a horrifying film and step away,

but I cannot pause a moment of reality.

Tiny screens filled with murder and mayhem,

just another day on social media, no warnings.

I don’t even flinch at jump scares anymore,

Because stepping outside is scarier than ghosts in the attic.

I feel more prepared for a zombie apocalypse,

than for the horrors tomorrow holds.

We’ve all got targets on our backs now,

Like we’re being hunted by a madman.

Only this time he’s not weilding a chainsaw or chomping with vampire fangs,

He’s in the highest position in the country,

Bringing on the Purge.

Josey, look for the good people. They are all around you. It's frightening, I know. I can feel it in your words.
