Creation Colors

A Poem

Creation Colors

My body begins

the colors of atmospheric daydreaming

falls to earth shaded in by great

blue heron

the staring eye of solar energy

extraterrestrial lunar glow

the azure circulatory of lightning clusters

if four winds have a color I am also that color

I become the deep browns

greens of snapping turtle

I become color of muskrat who brings clay

even though I am a man

I am mostly the piercing

brown colors of my mother

the purple turtleneck of my grandmother

the way corn births out of soil

the way water makes love to seeds of earth

if there are goddesses or gods who knows

but our fears of each other

are their color

I am a newborn here in this silly powerful universe

the color of big wings sprouting from

shoulder blades feels good

those wings are the color of letting go…because

what do I know of color besides they’re all so beautiful

and that I am one of them.
