Crashing Waves

As I ebb and flow on the shoreline

Crashing waves break; calling

Over and over taunting me

A sea-spray of emotions tumbling

As I ebb and flow on the shoreline

Torn this way and that, blinded

By time, black clouds scudding

As tears prickle my eyes

Sadness overwhelms me

Fresh rain on asphalt sizzles

Through my brain like fire

And mystical dancers pirouette

On the knife-edge of my life

Cigarette butt stubbed and heart heavy

I wander aimlessly staring out at the ocean

Pulling me like a magnet

Will I do the right thing?
