Craps

Two Definitions

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

Off the tip of my fingers

And the tip of my tongue

The tingling lingers

As the screams fill my lungs

They say that life is a game

Win or lose, it’s a gamble

Fifteen seconds of fame

Can turn your world into shambles

The balls in your court

Take your shot, make it count

They say life is short

You’re either in or you’re out

You can’t ride the line

Get off the fence and decide

You’ve not much nose left to grind

You’re running out of time

The clock is deceiving

With its soft, gentle ticks

It’s completely misleading

Like being beaten with a stick

Reaching out its hand

In a gesture of help

When the only thing time served

Was to serve itself

Selfish and callous

It keeps moving along

No signs of being jealous

But when it’s your time, you’re done
