Crafty Comforts
My happy place is at the crafty table

Paper and scissors and ribbon and thread,
Making glass beads on a hot torch instead,
Or paint and canvas and artistic flair,
Spinning and weaving some wool if I dare?
Pliers and pendants and stringing and crimping,
Small happy dances with clapping and singing,
When projects turn out so amazingly right,
Beauteous things - a splendiferous sight!
Oh. Sorry. It kinda falls right into the tune, doesn't it? I'll try again...
Oh little fabric stash of mine, I'd like to see thee sewn
Into a dress or vest or skirt that I would love to own
With velvet trim and piping, and sequins at the hem,
My friends don't think I'll get around to it, but I'll show them!
Hm. A bit too seasonal? Though a velvet-trimmed dress would make me a dazzling Cinderella at a Christmas ball.... Sorry. I guess I'm deep in filking mode. Let me try again -
So, buy, buy all my crafty supplies
Seems like blowing all my money might be slightly unwise
But jewelry projects put such joy in the eyes
Of recipients who love a surprise-
Presents are a lovely surprise
Oh dear. I have it bad, don't I? Maybe I should... just lean into it?
Creating a project beginning to end,
Even when things didn't go quite as planned,
Working the pieces to make a cool thing,
Finishing it will make the heart sing!
Wire and solder and cabochons polished,
Hammers and tools put a dent in the wallet,
But oh what a rush when the shiny thing's real!
Concept to object, the feeling you feel!
Satisfaction!
Such elation!
Kudos galore!
Take time to reflect on the coolness you've done
Before your mind wants... some more!
