Courage Needs Caution

Fear is not good,

they say every nice thing

lies on the other side of fear.

Courage is praised,

we have all heard that.

But reckless action,

ignoring real threats,

is a foolishness.

Yesterday I read

how a wealthy racecar driver

and his family,

lost in a plane crash.

Let me go back

three decades.

When I was a child,

there was a village man

blessed in every way.

At dawn, before the sun grew hot,

he took his tractor

to plow the fields.

The monstrous vehicle tilted,

he got fatally crushed.

Overcome fear, yes.

But do not underestimate

unknown risks

or unfamiliar technology,

even courage needs caution.
