Conversation with Myself

Internal Dialog

By Dannielle NelsonPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Though I know you, a thought is all it takes to make my mind wander

You sit with me even when I no longer recognize the comfort you offer.

I walk, lonely in a world where I am never truly alone

You stay with me

Thank you for your vigilance but I cannot see your presence in my life

I question your quiet guidance within me when I am no longer strong

Tears stain the sheets of my memory when I let myself forget

Yet here you are

I won’t allow you to remove me from the misery I have established

It keeps me, anchored to a consuming familiarity

The foundation and groundwork for the structure of my belief

You find me there

Worrisome, withering from defeat i have created

Why did I do this to myself?

I long for sensation, to stir me from the depths I once swam in

You remain

The stain of my longing no longer means much to me

The questions I keep asking, left unanswered by years of denial

The fear consumes bravery and courage dwindles beneath its weight

You know me there

You know me everywhere

You are the light

The love I crave

The feeling I have lost

The joy that twisted into despair

You, my beloved are the answer, the fire within, the inspiration for living

You, the perfect reflection of me, are the reason for my being

You, shining forever in my soul, I share with all I see.

Live through me and I will extend your love in the world with all the vigor you have shown me.

Together we walk, hand in hand, heart to heart into a world of possibility

Life awaits us there, we have only to reach out and accept it.

Thank you for always being here.

I am the ever living presence of the extension of love in form

I am and shall forever be

I am your ever living soul

Thank you
