Self-control

Control seeked by humanity,

But not over one's soul.

For logic's sake we think to rule

when basked in freedom in full.

*

For if we allow rules to be upon us,

How can we be free?

So we throw our conscience to the depths

where there's no one to let it be.

*

When we lose ourselves to the grip of life

and forget about limits and hearts,

There we can feel like we have control

and that's where the disconnection starts.

*

The paradox is revealed

When truth and clarity appear.

And we've not control over ourselves.

and we've almost ceased to care.

*

Neither pain nor joy

will heed to our desire.

And only our soul will fly

when we strive to rise higher.

*

We will never have control

over anything but our choices.

Our power and control

are those inner voices.

*

Cease to seek control over life

and work to be a man of reign.

Your emotions, desires, choices...

Those are yours to free or chain.

    Awesome one

  • One thing I am sure of is we are not in control of anything but our choices. Have you read any Nietzsche?
