Constellations

An Ekphrastic Sonnet

What traitors our eyes show themselves to be

The trees are strangers compared to the stars

According to their false testimony

A strange prison, with invisible bars

If we cannot judge distance, how can we

Pretend to understand intimacy?

We betray one another instantly

Posting about every weird sin we see

Discretion, privacy, real dignity

Are sacrifices for ChatGPT

Can trust survive in this poisonous sea?

How honestly can we our real selves be?

To draw closer to another, small light

Make being closer your private delight

Ekphrastic

This is fabulous. I especially love these lines "If we cannot judge distance, how can we Pretend to understand intimacy?"

This was very well written. A lot of similar thoughts I find myself lost in. You did so good with this!

Some sick rhymes here that made me think!

  • We have created so many barless prisons. Our hearts are full of captives

  • "Posting about every weird sin we see" Did you mean like the things we post on social media? Loved your poem!
