Consider the Tree
Colorful leaves dancing graceful and free,
Atop an indomitable trunk,
At least that’s what you see.
But who takes the time,
To truly consider the tree?
His roots are dug deep,
Spread out both far and wide.
The Tree stands firm and unyielding,
Through the passage of time.
Trials and tribulations.
Tumultuous tests.
Mother Nature’s greatest warrior,
Never takes time to rest.
Strength and tenacity.
So strong and proud.
He’s stability through the storm,
A chance at higher ground.
He’s The Giving Tree,
So selfless and kind.
“Come play in my branches,
Swing from my vines.”
He’s nice cool shade,
On a warm summer day.
He gives you his apples,
A snack while you play.
Once you know a tree,
Your life will never be the same.
He attracts the lightning,
Provides shelter from the rain.
Evergreens are eternal,
Perennials always return.
When it comes to dealing with trees,
There’s a lot to learn.
Make sure to look,
More than skin deep.
Trees are strong,
But even willows weep.
