Consequences
There is a rational reason for things that befall,
Decisions are made and consequences follow.
Whether we can predict the outcome that approaches,
It is I who causes my life’s unexpected encroachments.
We stand at our decision line through anticipation,
Not knowing that the dilemma is a result of our actions.
Rather than accept that we’re the culprits of such calamity,
It’s always the other person’s fault who offers no sympathy.
The road that we travel is cumbersome at best,
Laying before us are trials, valleys, and tests.
But if we look beyond our emotional states,
We can better understand what’s on our plates.
It is we ourselves who enter into the contract,
Be it simple or complex and no one has our back.
It’s a single challenge for those of us who push forward,
To consider the outcome of loving no matter how awkward.
Pointing fingers, familiar events no matter the side,
Changes nothing and makes one which they had died.
It’s life at its rawest, the ebb and flow of the tide,
So ponder decisions, and their outcomes before you decide.
Once decisions are made and things set in motion,
There’s no healing power or ointment or magical lotion.
It is our responsibility to see through the fog of ambiguity,
To see that decisions and consequences walk jointly.
Once the expected consequences lay at our door,
Then can we understand it’s our choice’s score.
No one to accuse and no finger-pointing,
We did the deed, and we ourselves disappointing.
