On a plane I fly
To have another exhilarating night
Surrounded by friends made in the blink of an eye
Nothing but music to continue the high
The hours spent in line
While you hear of new friends lives
Just seem to fly by
The classes you miss
Or when the anxiety hits
Are just distant memories
After the first note sounds
The music making your heart pound
And all your troubles slip into the ground
There’s a terrifying thrill to it
It’s like a drug you know that you never can quit
You’re constantly waiting to get the next hit
The fire dancing inside you making it impossible to sit
But it isn’t a bad thing
No, that’s where you’re wrong
It’s a drug that makes you sing
Knowing all the words to the song
It’s the breath caught in your lungs
As you watch the lights flash
A familiar pattern
You haven’t seen since the last
Time seems to stand still
As the tension just builds
But then the final opening light shines
And whilst blind you start to shake from the thrill
The stage comes alive and cuts all of the tension
The screams all drown out any pain aforementioned
And the music consumes your whole body with fire
And time slips away through a night all would desire
As they sing their last note
And you scream with rough throats
A weird sensation occurs as your body just floats
Consumed by the magic select few had just witnessed
It ends in a snap with confusing quickness
And while sad that you know that this moment did end
You know that another will quite quickly begin
You may not know where the next adventure will take you
But it’s bound to start soon so hurry up your plane leaves at next noon
You never quite thought
Those people you sought
To make the world feel like home
Would be met through a phone
And the emptiness inside
You were dying to hide
Could quickly be filled
By the panicking thrill
Of a girl running straight at you
As you both dance with laughter
And tackle each other to the ground
Because you finally have found
A friend who feels safe and sound
While you’re both 3,000 miles away from your respective homes
It’s the moments like this that make your life living
Not the jobs, cars, or house that make life so fulfilling
It’s the anxious desire to make it to the next show
Whether you have the money for it or not, hell who knows?
But that’s part of the fun of this life you’ve acquired
Stuck in a city with no way home and you’re tired
But deliriously buzzed from a show that got you wired
It seems fairly crazy to make yourself a token in the game
But you have to be slightly insane to keep up on this plane
It’s not for the faint of heart to keep up with it all
The attire, the hunger, the lines, the sweat, and the falls
But the feel of the barricade pushed up on your side
While bone-crushing, still makes you feel wildly alive
