Towering above a park far below

Sandboxes, swings, a merry-go-round

10th story window – stunning views

Blue Sky, Sandia Mountains to the East

A business deal; success beckoning in the room

He stood by my side – successful together

High heel shoes

Patent leather; fitted black slacks; red power blouse

Smiling, laughing, sensing the loss

How had I forgotten?

Panic, terror, spinning around, high heels tapping solid wood floors

Gripping his hand searching the room

10th story window – a park so far below

She is crying – baby fine blonde hair clinging to tear streaked face

Two years old; sand clinging to tiny hands

He is talking to her, smiling, reaching for her, sweeping her up

He is running; she is crying – “mommy, mommy, mommy!!!”

His car waits

heartbreaksad poetry
