Too young to know
What direction meant
I just knew
With you
I found belonging.
Somehow it all got reset.
The magnets in our lives.
Pulled apart,
Lost,
While being told
That this was north.
I never knew
That the north could burn.
My flesh burning,
Soul suffocating,
In a ceaseless
Cruel torment.
Was it a mirage of you
That I once saw?
My body
My mind
Ached
For the sweet cool of you.
Who knew that fire
Led to the deepest darkness?
Consumed yet screaming.
My mind dying,
My body crumbling,
But still so very alive.
They told me these magnets
Reset my direction.
A joke.
Shaking them off,
Lest I die.
Their religion be damned.
North.
I think that's where you are.
Still lost.
Spinning madly.
Searching.
I feel the pain fading.
You.
You fill my lungs with cold.
I can breathe.
My body
My mind
Shiver under your touch.
This
Is my north.
You are my direction.
Home
Is never being lost again.
My compass, my love.
