comfortable cotton clarity

in the field

comfort is always where I am, not where I have been

in these moments of livin’ in the present

otherwise, it is nipped in the bud

the wrong time put its foot in my mouth

*

the most comfortable things happen

right here, right now, dressed up to the nines

without pullin’ the wool over the eyes

with crystal clear clarity

*

when someone could comfortably ask me

where I have been for these long years

I could answer that in the cave as I am

the cave woman arisen from the grave

*

transformed at the time of buddin’

lyin’ comfortably in the field

waitin’ for the right time to come

so, the time has come, here I am

*

pausin’ for any sign good or bad

meant to advise me on the unpredictable

unfulfilled and unhappened yet

in the comfortable shade of my own gates

*

when that time comes, I won’t hesitate

I will stand in the stocks of midday

comfort at my feet and in my wrists

freedom that warms the cockles of my heart

***

we always look forward to the best times

we tremble in anticipation inside

before all the pieces of the puzzle come together deftly

to make up for past uncomfortable deeds
