The Summit of Colors: where colors commune -By: Timothy Blaze Sullivan

I am the first white hair on my head at the age of ten,

I'm not supposed to be here and I have no friend,

I don't fit in,

My colors change,

From season to season,

You'll see my full range,

I'm white in the winter,

Hispanic when its hot,

According to the other kindergarteners,

They're white and I'm not,

In first grade I was told,

By my foster mother,

To say "I'm just a little light skinned",

If my black classmates bothered,

On my father's side I'm dark,

On my mom's side I'm light,

I stick out on both sides,

Oh what a sight,

Once my uncle told me,

Mixed race is a sin,

He died shortly after,

I won't listen to him,

There's nothing wrong with me,

Just because of my face,

In the kingdom of heaven,

There is no race,

I am special,

Yes I am unique,

More like a chameleon,

Less like a freak,

More than the color of my skin,

There's the content of my soul,

For you to judge me by my character,

Is my goal,

Colors vast,

Colors true,

I'm not simply some colors,

Tell me what are you.
