Colors

____________________________

You floated into my life when it was all shades of gray.

A leaf fallen onto a forest that had been totally razed.

--

My outlook was bleak and my will all but diminished,

but you and your colors showed me I was far from finished.

--

My ashes were many and my ground all singed and dry

you were like a flood on of love raining down from the sky.

--

Soon I rejoice in your colors and moist nurturing hug

as you covered me with new beauty like a velvety rug.

--

With you I found new life and a way that was brilliant.

I learned I was not dead but much alive and resilient.

--

Colors may fade but what you gave me will never

you made me come alive and thrive and our ties

will not be lost, no, not ever.
