Colors Coincide
Inspired by our infectious ignorance and indifference

Do you think it's rather funny that I've spent half the night, researching skin colors other than black and white? Why is it that I would spend an evening googling "skin"? Because I had hoped to write a poem to fix this mess we're in.
I thought if I could find and understand the various hues, that I could then teach others to embrace the awesome news. That differences in color are not intended to divide, but differences between us are meant to Coincide.
Before I go much further, I feel I must confide... yes, I had to Google "rhymes" and I found "Coincide". Where's this word been all my life- "to concur, agree, corresponding in nature, occurring simultaneously? To occupy the same position relative to space, to meet together, join as one, to intersect, embrace".
You see, there is no reason, excuse or made-up law where the color of one's skin promotes a pivoting see-saw. As though one color needs to rise as all the others fall, as though one color must prevail to dominate us all.
Again, the purpose of this ode... to fix this mess we've made, to share my new word, "Coincide", in hopes it might persuade, generations young and old whatever color one might be... to treat each other with respect, love and dignity.
"Humanity" is another super cool word I just found! "Human beings collectively," Oh, how I love that sound! HUMANITY and COINCIDE... to live in harmony, then we can teach our children so that their world will be...
A place where freedom truly reigns, where flags will symbolize, a higher order thinking, open-mindedness revised. They'll use their brains and hearts and souls and everything they are, to evolve and supersede their parents' greatest flaw.
They will lift each other up, and if their paths collide, they'll offer one another strength and even step aside. And no-one will be left behind and everyone will see, just what it takes to coincide, to build humanity.
So Gen-Z and millennials, it's up to you my dears.. to guide us by example to erase man's oldest fears. You must teach us to embrace the colors of all skin... to live by your example and to fix this mess were in.
