Born seeing the world through kaleidoscope eyes
Rivers of rainbows rushing through our veins
Paint covered fingertips ready to decorate the walls
As we prepared to illustrate our maps with crayons and markers
We learned that we were too much for some
Taught to be faded grey strangers in our own skin
Personalities and desires smudged and scribbled over
Told to cover ourselves up
Opaque shadows blocked our inner light
We stopped seeing our true colors
Believing in black and white
Until our bodies couldn't hold back the rainbows anymore
Our hearts erupted
Skin cracked open, color spilled forth
Hues of transformation
Washed over the beige, brown and black
Blending together
Creating new colors never seen before
We rose in fiery oranges, reds and yellows as Phoenixes
Ashes fell at our feet
Reborn with all the colors of love
Rainstorms brought rainbows out of us and into the world
Now we paint poems in the skies
Draw our dreams out loud
Sculpt statues in our image
Envision a world full of colorful bodies
With pride
With love
With acceptance
