If I were red

I would be a strawberry or something sweet

Maybe a dark pitted cherry

Freshly picked from the tree

If I were orange

I would be the warm setting sun

Low and steady on the horizon

Another day gone and done

If I were yellow

I would be a wild sunflower

Bright and puffed up

Above all others I’d tower

If I were green

I would be tall and willowy grass

Gently dancing in the breeze

Swaying free and care less

If I were blue

I would be the calming ocean deep

Messages in a bottle

Secrets I would keep

If I were purple

I would be the one not many know

I would be the deepest darkest shade

And name myself Indigo

If I could be a color

I would be more than one or two

I would become a rainbow

I would choose every hue
