Color is a pigment of your imagination

Is She...?

By Alex SlusherPublished 5 years ago 1 min read
Is She Black? Is She White?

Is she black or is she white? It is your mind’s creation

It’s not about the color wheel

Color is a pigment of your imagination

Does color show us good or bad or just allow proliferation?

Hero, villain, cowboy hats. Is it real, what’s on that movie reel?

Is his hat black or is his white? It’s in your mind’s creation

It’s not the shades which are to blame. You’ll find no exoneration

While people use it to excuse a power structure. Here’s the deal

Color is a pigment of your imagination

How easy to let hue decide generation after generation

While others live terrified. Easier to decide it must be real

Are they black or are they white? It is your mind’s creation

My mother’s skin is black. My father’s white. It’s not just pigmentation

How do I pass within your sight? We all must think, we all must feel

Color is a pigment of our imaginations

Will I live to see the real end of segregation?

When this color war can heal and there’s no prejudice to conceal

Color is a pigment of our imaginations

Color is a pigment of our imaginations
