Color I Am

Freedom I Am

By Jerrie J PaulPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

You should be proud of your age

They scolded

Let your gray hair be seen

NO!

The two year old me cries

She remembers being punished daily

For decorating her face with Mommy’s lipstick

No! Hell NO!

The nearly eighty year old me cries

I’ve spent decades convincing that precious little girl

Not only is she safe

But the world most assuredly needs her

Born exuberant Joyful Playful Wise

And oh yes Colorful

My hair is red and purple and green

Oh so Beautiful

It opens conversations and connections

I dress like the Goddess I am

Purples and Oranges and Greens and Turquoises

I dance through life inviting others to join in

Coloring outside the lines

surreal poetry
