Dipping toes in the ocean blue,

shivers running all the way through,

the salty spray upon my face,

waves crashing at an endless pace.

The chill of the water is intense,

numbing my arms to the very sense,

as I wade a bit deeper still,

my heart begins to start to chill.

The cold clears out my foggy mind,

leaving only fresh thoughts behind,

I'm washed anew with every wave,

with every splash my heart's enslaved.

The water's bite may be intense,

but it's the rush that is immense,

I'm invigorated by this cold embrace,

and I'll be back soon, to run the race.
