Cold

cold water on an empty stomach

By Isabella WalkerPublished 3 months ago 1 min read

Have you ever drunk cold water on an empty stomach?

---

Felt the icy liquid make its way down your throat

settling nicely in the pit of your stomach

---

Maybe giving you chills

and reminding you to eat something

---

I used to live for that feeling

knowing that when I got the empty chills

of cold water hugging my insides

that I hadn’t eaten

---

it felt like an accomplishment

---

Feeling my stomach so empty

so cold and starved

that the water could fill me up

with one big gulp

---

and for some twisted reason

that made me extraordinarily happy

Gold water is refreshing especially on a hot day.

You wrote this so well. I hate that I relate to it, but I do. This is such a beautiful, vulnerable poem. Loved it!
