I've seen you standing up there with your guitar in your hand,
I've seen you struttin' round with your rock n' rollin' band,
Trying to impress all the girls in their teens,
Let me tell you something: "he ain't what he seems."
******
He's a crazy mixed-up guy,
He's too proud to even try,
And he don't dare expose himself,
To things that he can't buy.
I've heard you play your rock n' roll songs, but it's always done your way,
Tellin' the world about "Johnny B Goode" and "That'll Be the Day."
Truth be known, you got nothing to say,
Even your girlfriends always pay.
******
Now I've stood here thinkin, listening, Oh what a man you could be!
If only you could strip away the chains that I can see,
You might as well serve a prison term,
When are you finally going to learn?
You're a crazy mixed-up guy,
You are too proud to even try,
and you don't dare expose yourself,
to things that you can't buy.
******
Till next time, Calvin
[Author's note: I played in a band many years ago. The lead singer and guitarist was so full of his own importance. Like many band lead guitarists, he thought he was "God's gift" to the world. It inspired me to write these lyrics, which I have now converted into a poem. He never got to hear the lyrics, because it was not until I was in a second band that they were played live.

Yep, we all know that guy! Nice job on flouting the lyrics to your experience and then into a poem.
Woah, that's another side of yours, Sir! Amazing :D
This is incredibly peppy. Perfect driving with the windows down, song
